About Me

Hello. I’m an Information Technologist by profession. I hail from the vibrant city of Coimbatore, often called as the Manchester of Southern India! I am currently based in Bangalore, India, but my work often takes me to all sorts of other fine places.

I can’t say for sure there was a ‘light bulb’ moment or when all the ‘stars’ aligned for me to get in the IT industry. I can tell you I was raised in a society full of academicians and intellects who made me always feel that I was behind!. I majored in Computer Science mostly comprised of software development classes where I spent countless hours in labs applying theory to unpractical, out-of-date “real-world” examples. But for a few odd balls, I have to admit I enjoyed software development.

On the personal front, I spent the first 24 years or so down south of India where I developed a slightly unconvincing Tamil accent, an appreciation of its food & culture, a love of mountains and the outdoors and a ‘live life king size’ attitude.

I absolutely love Bangalore, a city I love for its cool winters, not so warm summers, a slightly laid back culture and above all its fun loving people. I love driving long distances in India particularly down south to the mountains of western ghat and the coastal belt of Karnataka and Goa.

I started this writing on the world wide web way back in 2004 and after several hiccups, breakdowns, crashes and periods of running out of enthusiasm for the venture I’m back and writing again. Though most of my posts relate to wildlife & photography, I also occasionally write on technology, life in general, and all things around the season. I do hope to keep pace and continue to write! I don’t take myself too seriously so bear that in mind that if I write something that makes you feel nervous or think I’m being arrogant, I’m probably joking! Some of my photographs and writing may accept comments so do tell me what you think of them.

Although I work for the demanding IT industry that I continue to enjoy thoroughly, I have developed a special interest and passion for photography and try not to miss an opportunity to venture in to the wild or go out on travel.  I consider photography as a great medium to express my creativity, imagination, a record of means to future proof what I see in the wild or with mother nature.

I am an amateur photographer and continue to learn. My subjects of interests are primarily landscapes, nature, wildlife, birding and have been constantly changing and evolving over the years. I occasionally do some street photography and portraiture. I believe it’s your eye and imagination that help create an image and not the equipment alone.

To that effect, I don’t side with a brand. I have shot with a variety of point & shoot and 35mm SLR cameras from different brands over the Years. Having said that,  I have shot with Nikon cameras and lenses most of the time with the exception of a few third party lenses. I started with Nikon as I felt very comfortable with their line of cameras and lenses and have built a system around Nikon.  Even though I enjoy shooting films/slides till date, I graduated shooting digital in 2005. I still use my venerable Nikon F80 or N80(as it is called in the USA). Here is a list of my Equipment & Gear.

This site is my little corner of the world wide web and contains my ramblings, some photographs I’ve shot and travelogues from my past, present and imagination. Enjoy and thanks for visiting my site!
